For the truly adventurous, the Fordyce Creek and Grouse Lakes Recreation Area of the Tahoe National Forest is a designated OHV area with hundreds of miles of roads and trails for your jeeping, snowmobiling and ATV enjoyment. 

The Sierra Trek starts here every year in early August and provides some of the best Rock Crawling in the country. 

Summers are great for gathering around the camp fire, swimming in the river, taking a hike. Or, you can simply kick back with a good book, relax, sit on the porch, and unwind as the Eagle and Goshawk soar overhead. Let your mind take you back to a place in time.

Hiking

• Loch Leven Lakes is a beautiful hike that is a few miles up the road.
• The Big Bend Ranger Station has maps and info about the area.
• We are also on the edge of the Grouse Lakes Recreation Area (we are the white square to the right of the Pierce Creek Wetlands marker.)
• You can also hop on the Pacific Crest Trail with a 15 minute drive up Interstate 80.

 

Fishing/Boating

• Here is an article on Donner Summit and it lists a place on Donner Lake where you can rent a canoe.

• Scott's Flat Reservoir About half an hour away
• Fuller and Rucker Lakes are less than 10 minutes
• Lake Spaulding is walking distance from the cabins and has King Salmon, Mackinaw, Brown, and Rainbow

 

River Rafting

• Get your heart pumping with a Class IV or V American River White Water Rafting Trip.
• Ride on the gentle Truckee River out of Tahoe City.
